Caleb Spreading the Word

So proud of this disciple! I saw this video the day after Christmas. May it inspire us all to carry our cross (not necessarily a wooden one) and share God's love!! Click Here: WLTX News Clip

What an awesome finish to our time "home" in South Carolina! Caleb and I drove to the RiverWalk and parked with a plan to CrossWalk past the StateHouse to 5-Points and back. After parking we were getting the crosses out of the car when two women stopped to ask what the crosses were for. Just seconds after arriving and we were already sharing the Gospel! We got on the road and I stopped in to the McDonald's to use the restroom. When I came out, Caleb was speaking with a man named Lamont about the CrossWalk. We ministered to this brother and prayed with him at the roadside. Then, before leaving he blessed us with $100 and said, "keep doing what you're doing, it's a powerful statement!" Wow, God is so good!! We prayerfully continued on to the StateHouse and then to 5-points, many people beeping and encouraging us on the way. When we got to the center of the city I stopped for a snack and Caleb walked up to a burger joint to get lunch. After my snack I s

Richmond, VA

Caleb and I actually had a strange time in Richmond. When we got to the city, it was empty. Nothing was stirring until the afternoon so we took a tour of the Holocaust Museum. If you haven't been to one of the Holocaust museums, it's a must. The atrocities committed against the Jews were horrific and we must learn from history. I left feeling inspired to live my life to the fullest in honor of those who lost theirs prematurely. Once we were CrossWalking we split up in order to cover more of the city. I met two men about my age and the one guy asked, "So why are you carrying that cross?" His friend exclaimed, "Oh, duh, I thought it was a 'tee' ...a cross; now it makes sense." Little kids have asked me why I was carrying a wooden "X" before, but I was taken back that this guy thought I was dressed in a robe, carrying a "T." I was left speechless for a minute; but then continued to proclaim the Gospel to the first guy. Looking back

Petersburg, VA (When God Blesses You)

After walking in Baltimore one last time, we all felt  peace and closure about leaving Maryland and heading onto Virginia. And with the transition came a new excitement for all of us. God is so good. And he most definitely directs our paths! Upon our arrival into Virginia, doors immediately opened for Caleb and I to speak at West End Christian school the very next day. Thanks to Ms Kim (music teacher and spiritual mother) we were able to share our journey and testimony with some 45-60 middle school students. Thank you Lord for the chance to sow/share your love with young and open hearts. Everything following this time of ministry was indescribable as we were all blessed and refreshed by God himself. Evie: Previous to Petersburg, VA, I couldn't help the feeling of exhaustion and loneliness. Don't get me wrong, I have come to truly love and embrace my husband's way of ministering to the world; but on this particular trip, it seemed as if the weight of the world were on my

Baltimore, Maryland

Just had an AWESOME day CrossWalking Baltimore. I feel like it was the perfect conclusion to our time in Maryland. After fighting through such spiritual warfare, I'm happy that we were able to finish strong . Caleb and I drove downtown and parked by the inner harbor. With our crosses we began to walk away from the city center. I asked a taxi driver where the worst part of the city was and he directed our path. See, the days before we CrossWalked the Inner Harbor, we had a great time of witnessing but it was mostly to tourists. Here are two pics from then: Today, we wanted to witness far from the tourists and wow, it was SUCH a fruitful day of ministry! It was also a tough day of ministry as we walked through the projects and down streets where every other house was condemned or broken into by squatters. The poverty we saw went hand in hand with Baltimores spiritual condition as the atmosphere was heavy and felt muddled. On one occasion, Caleb was walking toward a gang on

Spiritual Warfare, Baltimore

I call it as I see it and I believe we're experiencing some serious spiritual warfare. Caleb and I have been sick for days, the RV is broken down, and this morning we found the crosses knocked over -- one of them upside-down. Yvelisse and Yvonne have been doing well with things but we've had some cold nights and "tanks" are low. The good thing about struggling through the night is that Joy comes in the Morning! Hallelujah!!

I had SO much I wanted to write as soon as Caleb and I finished CrossWalking today but when I got back to the camper I was exhausted with a killer headache. It's after 2am here in Bel Air, MD and I just posted this testimony on facebook: Sound asleep in the camper... I wake up at midnight... WIDE AWAKE. Think to myself, "I should pray and go back to sleep." Then God says, "Go into Walmart." I say, "...hmm, must not be God. It's cold outside, middle of the night, not going." God says, "Go." I get in there and right away see a family (young mom and dad and toddler daughter) grocery shopping. I was drawn to them...wondered why they were out so late. Walked around the store, they were playing Turbo on the big screens so I got distracted. I picked up a pack of socks, said a couple "God bless you's" to people (but I knew I was missing something). I got to the check out at the same time as the family I saw earlie

Veteran's Day Message at Coventry Christian School

Image
November 11th I had an awesome time giving the message at the chapel of Coventry Christian School. Those students were so well behaved and the school was so courteous. I was even blessed to read my book to a first grade class. SUCH A GREAT TIME! Thanks Nichole Tucker for orchestrating the day! November 12th, CrossWalk Ministry held a board meeting and I was affirmed as President of the non-profit. Not a big deal but since we were incorporated as a non-profit, any donations to the CrossWalk Ministry are now tax-deductible! November 13th we packed the RV and Caleb and I are now in the process of CrossWalking to South Carolina for Thanksgiving. Afterwards Yvelisse, Yvonne and I will be heading to Florida. My birthday is on the 26th of November and Yvonne's first birthday is December 19th so we'll have a lot to celebrate on this trip!

Grace Tabernacle COGIC Pottstown, PA

Image
The other week we were blessed to preach the Word of God at Grace Tabernacle in Pottstown. It's a long story but last month I was walking down Rt. 100 and a man pulled over to talk. He said that when he saw the cross it was like he "was struck by lightening!" I explained our ministry and that Caleb, Trevor and I would be walking in Washington DC. He went on to tell me that he was a pastor and if I was from town (and pointed back towards Pottstown) he would have asked me to speak at his church. I replied, "I am from town!" I was going to carry the cross into the church but we wanted to focus on our RISEN SAVIOR and not the image before crucifixion. It was such an awesome refreshing service. If you'd ever like to visit, Grace Tabernacle is at 660 N. Charlotte Street in Pottstown and they have Sunday service at 11am. I included a testimony about Laza in the last blog post, and praise God, she was able to come out and fellowship with us!:

Caleb and Tobiah tag-team Pottstown

Image
Last week Caleb and I decided to take shifts walking in Pottstown. As Caleb got on the road, I snapped this picture of him: Notice the flyer that says "Jesus <3 You?" A few days before we went all around town stapling hundreds of those up. As I was stapling I noticed that several poles had flyers up for the Mayor... some people have questioned if it's okay to post Christian flyers on the poles; well if the Mayor can do it for her campaign, then we can do if for the Glory of God, Amen! So, Caleb went out for about three hours and then he called me to relieve him. I drove out and I was surprised to see how far he had gotten! He took the car home and I took up the cross. Shortly after beginning the crosswalk a woman walked up to me with her child in the stroller. She said, "Boy, I've been trying to catch up with you for a while. I wanted to ask why you're carrying the cross." I explained that she had seen Caleb and continued to share the G

Bronx, NY

Caleb and I had an awesome time CrossWalking in the Bronx today. Most people just walked by us with their heads to the ground or were too distracted by their phones or music to talk. *Don't be so distracted by the world that you miss Jesus. The people we did talk with were a blessing. For most of the day Caleb would walk on one side of the road while I walked on the other. This allows the more people to see the crosses. I spoke with 4 sisters who could have listened to me talk about Jesus all day but their bus arrived. Another street preacher and I spoke and were blessed to encourage one another. A man named Nixon stopped us to ask about the crosses. He was with two of his friends and said that he knew where we were coming from because he was born again. *Seek the second birth. Nixon told us it was hard to stay on The Path because his friends weren't born again...but he's been planting seeds. We spoke for a good while and prayed with him and his friends before leaving. W

9/11 Million Muslim March

Image
During my walk across America I met a fellow cross bearer named Lance Rowe. Connecting with him has also helped me connect with other cross bearers as well. We've created a group on Facebook to enable us to pray for and encourage one another. A few weeks ago, the group brought to my attention that the Islamic community was planing a "Million Muslim March" on September 11th, 2013. In response to this protest (and to honor those who lost their lives on 9/11), American bikers began planning a "Two Million Biker" rally. They were denied their permit to protest in the Capital but rode around DC nevertheless. Our group of cross bearers felt led to intercede over the day so we began an event titled "One Hundred Crosses" with the intention to pray for every Muslim, Biker, and fellow man in DC today. Trevor, Caleb, and I built crosses yesterday for this event and then this morning we left for Washington with my wife, Yvelisse, and daughter, Yvonne. We arrived

Prep for DC

Image
Today Caleb, Trevor, and I walked down High Street and into Pottstown with our crosses. We built them this morning in preparation for sharing the gospel in Washington DC tomorrow. We had an awesome time of ministry today and have great expectations for DC!! Also, Evie and Trevor may provide live worship music while in DC. We're excited!

Follow me as I follow Christ

Caleb Ballinger has joined the team and desires to carry his (physical) cross for Christ. We just went to the mall today and bought the shoes he'll be walking in. I can feel a stirring...I believe something big is about to happen...

Pottstown, PA

Yesterday I went to the funeral of an amazing 92 year old Christian woman named Viola Boyer. Her life was such a testimony of God's love and it was a tremendous blessing to hear the stories of how she "carried her cross" daily. I saw a friend there and enjoyed hearing her share about how Viola was a Sunday school teacher and invited her and her brother to church a long time ago. Today her and her brother are both Sunday school teachers. Viola has left a lasting legacy Yesterday was also the first time that Evie, Yvonne, and I walked with the cross as a family. We were blessed to pray and minister with many people. A young man named Bryan gave his heart to the Lord and we were privileged to lead him in a prayer of salvation. It was a beautiful day and we are so excited about the calling that the Lord has given us. Also, we just ordered a shofar from TheTallitMan in preparation for our trip to Washington DC for September 11th.

My Wife's Perspective

Right now I can't sleep because all I can think about is what's going on in the world as I lie comfortably in my bed. The parents of missing children, kids who have been sold into sex trafficking, the uproar in the middle east, the peace and protection of Israel, and of course my generation..... AHH! There's so much more.... Is anybody else alarmed? Or concerned? Or anguished? Does it hurt your heart to see little girls walking around half naked and it be accepted as normal? Or the news of another rape vicim? I Need to do something; I can't stay within the confines of my house any longer! The reality of hell has gripped me... Maybe not the full realty of hell after death. But the hell people are living in, here on Earth. It was only just a couple of months ago that I would watch the news and shake my head thinking, “What a lost cause. America..... She's so filthy, and hopeless. I hope she gets what she deserves!” I'd sit there passively accepting

Hurry up and wait

We're at the starting gate and ready to move into a more "full-time" ministry with the cross but our RV has a few technical issues that need to be worked out. The levelers are not powering up and the refrigerator has been finicky (I don't know if I've ever used the word "finicky" before). Therefor, today we dropped the motor-home off in Honeybrook, PA to be serviced. Should be done by the end of the week!

PA Route 100 South "Jesus is my Boss"

Yesterday I CrossWalked from home through Coventry and into Pughtown, PA. Kyle Smith began the walk with me but it was a bit intimidating walking on the highway so he decided to leave me when we got to the Coventry Mall. The first person that I spoke with was very sarcastic about the cross. I ended up telling him that if he just lets down his guard and opens his heart Jesus will speak to him. The man cursed Jesus and sped off. I pray the Lord ministers to that man's heart even now. I think he was wounded by the church and hasn't dealt with that. It's funny... all Christians are hypocrites. We desire to do good but we do bad because none of us are perfect. Well, when people look at a Christian to see Christ it's easy to be let down. We'll still do our best to reflect God but my prayer is that people see Jesus, not me. The rest of the walk was great. I met a man named Steven and we got to pray over his marriage. Then a minister named Nathaniel stopped and expressed

Blessings in disguise?

Well, we're not walking to DC. The levelers / jacks on the RV aren't functioning so we have to take it into the shop next week. We tried to use the fridge without it being level and it didn't work as well... hope we didn't make it worse. So they'll check out the refrigerator also. This gives us time for the parts needed for towing our car to arrive. Lord willing, everything will come together just before the September 11th "100 crosses" event in DC.

Carrying the cross at home

This past week we've been spending a great amount of time fixing up our home. Evie and I are excited to see how God will use our home for ministry whether it's couples counseling, small groups, or a home-church. We give it up to God, but meanwhile it's been ALOT of work... our house was built in 1905 and any small repair becomes a great endeavor. Also, our friend Caleb has been living with us for several months now. I feel that the Lord is helping us both grow as men; in Cymbrogi we say, "boys become men in the presence of other men." and Caleb and I try to sharpen each other "as iron sharpens iron." In addition, this past week another young man named Kyle has moved in with us. I'll have to keep you posted as the story progresses :)

One Hundred Crosses

On Sunday I was blessed to share a message on "Carry your Cross" at a small church in Green Lane, PA. When I returned home I saw a notification about an event invite on my Facebook. The event is titled One Hundred Crosses: https://www.facebook.com/OneHundredCrosses Lord willing, we will be in Washington DC on September 11th! Please keep us covered in prayer.

Reading, PA

I have not been doing well with blogging. Apologies! Last week Evie and I were invited to Tri-County Bible Church. We had such a great time talking with the kids and then all of the children walked around the church following the cross! It was such a good time. We sang "hallelujah" and walked through the main sanctuary during service (which surprised the pastor). Then during the week I drove into Reading, PA and carried the cross around the city. The ministry was so great and many lives were touched. I wish I could share some specific stories but I don't have much time right now. The first person I spoke to however, I met before I even got to Reading. I was driving with the cross sticking out of my trunk and a woman named Nancy drove up next to me and yelled to ask me to pull over. She told me That she saw me crosswalking last week and hasn't stopped telling people about it. How cool!   More to come! May you be blessed!

Rt. 23 West

I was tempted to skip crosswalking today because I'm a little sore from yesterday. I decided however to walk a half-day instead. As soon as I got out of the campsite the first person that stopped to talk was the last person that stopped to talk last night. I found that her name is Patty and that she's the wife of the camp owner. I told Evie last night that I wanted to speak with Patty more because the last thing she said to me was, “it doesn't matter what god you believe in, as long as you have faith.” Thank God I was able to speak and pray with her this morning. Walking along State Route 23, two women named Jennifer and Alice stopped they were on the way to work and wanted to hear my testimony. They were both believers and we were able to encourage one another. After they pulled away and I began walking again, I passed a piece of paper blowing in the wind. I really felt God lead me to pick it up so I backed up and grabbed it. It had a woman named Sylvia's ema

Walking Rt. 23 in Warwick, PA (8/6/13)

Image
The first week out with our RV!! Yesterday I walked rt. 23 from Warwick Woods to Rt. 100 and back. It was the first time walking with this cross and in the first couple steps I could tell it was going to be a tough crosswalk. As I began walking I saw lots of dead and dried up worms on the road and later saw a dead bat. I thought to myself that this was going to be a rough day... But thank God I was wrong :) It turned out to be a great day of ministry! I was stopped by a man named John who was driving a church van. He said that a group from his church goes on a retreat every summer and he's going to meet with them. He encouraged me and told me that he'd share my testimony with them. As I was speaking with him a woman named Felicity joined us. Felicity was overjoyed and encouraged by the message of the Cross but after a few moments she said that she had to leave; that she was late to pick up her son. When she left I prayed with John and began walking a

Philadelphia: The city of brotherly love

God says to the church in Philadelphia, " I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown." ( Revelation 3:11) Last week I took the cross to Philadelphia. It was the first time I had the cross strapped to my car...I must admit, it looked a little crazy: I drove past Center City and just allowed the Spirit to lead me to a starting point. I took an exit near an older residential area and parked near a church on Berks and Memphis Streets. This was an easy intersection to remember because there's a Berks Street in Stowe and Nicolas Cage's character in "Gone in 60 Seconds" was named Memphis. As I began walking a man yelled out of his truck, "Hey, where's Moses!?" I replied, "I believe you're thinking of Simon of Cyrene." So he asked, "Didn't Moses help Jesus carry the cross?" The other guy in his truck replied, "No man, you're way off."  Then they asked me about the cro

And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward" (Matthew 10:42). I had an awesome CrossWalk yesterday. It started out a little rough though. As soon as I set of from Stowe I started having mind-games. I was thinking, "Man, why are you doing this...people are just going to think you're crazy...this doesn't make a difference." On top of that, a loose dog was barking at me and the guys at the garage across the street were yelling, "hey, it's too hot for that!" Just then, a woman pulled over and walked up to me with tears in her eyes. She said that she was struggling with her faith and was just asking God to help her when she saw me carrying the cross. I shared that I had just been struggling with mind games too so we were both able to encourage one-another. Praise God, I was blessed to minister to many people over the seven hour walk.

For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay (Habakkuk 2:3). This has been a season of waiting. The camper that we were buying didn't come through. The gentleman selling it told us that his brother's house caught fire and they need it for a temporary shelter. Obviously we had no objection and we're thankful that his brother is doing well.   Evie and I are trying to use our time here wisely. The last class needed for my bachelor's starts today. It's a 6-week online course so I'll be able to take it on the road with me. Also, Evie got a violin for her birthday so she's been learning to play by watching YouTube videos. We're spending time with family and believing that we'll have a camper and be on the road after Coventry COB's VBS at the end of the month. Speaking of the Church in Coventry, they're havin
